If you are new to scuba diving and just avail of opportunity, all gear and equipment will be provided along with the necessary number of initiation lessons and open water dive instruction, so just relax and concentrate on learning basics and/or contemplating the unmatched variety of the Tulamben marine life, corals, or filming fish and underwater views.
Bali wreck diving site number one - Tulamben wreck dive opportunities
American submarine Liberty is Bali's most popular wreck dive attraction. The wreck is easy reacheable indeed, because it is just one minute swim away from the shore, where it lies since World War 2. She ship is approximately 120 meters long, which is considered a big wreck. The underweater currents here occur but on rare occasions, the water is pure, so this wreck is suitable to dive for divers of all levels of experience. The top of the wreck starts at the depth of just 5 meters below the sea surface, but it's
base lies on the sandy black volcanic sea bed at the deapth of 35 meters. The ship is surrounded by some picturesque coral and is housing hundreds of different fish species like big eye jacks that are absolutely not afraid of divers letting humans come so close you could almost touch them by hand.
Drop Off
Drop Off is the name of another popular Tulamben dive site that is located at the South end of Tulamben Bay. A very suitably shore lets scuba divers to walk into the water and then just swim until you reach the drop off. The wall is covered with coral, and this is the place where you may wish to come to vew some gorgonian fans - the kind of corals sheltering some pygmy seahorse species. Sometimes you may be lucky to face big fish too. Here you can expect to see manta's, hammerheads, dogtooth tuna and sometimes Mola Mola.
Coral Gardens Dive Site, Menjangan Island
This small reef presents colourful coral landscape some parts of which are covered with some huge sponges that lies between the wreck and the drop off is great for novice scuba divers and snorkelers, and especially loved by underwater photographers. It's only a
small shallow water reef, but it is next to none by the diversity and abondance of marin creatures like blind shrimp, goby, reef fish, nudibranchs and anemones to name just a few, and also offers some picturesque wall corals views to get some shots of.
Prices by local scuba diving guides are very reasonable. To the best of our knowledge in 2009 they would ask you US$ 85 for 2
guided dives including transportation from hotel to the dive sites area, gear and equipment fee, snacks, soft drinks etc.
