Scuba instructor or dive leader is a professional responsible for instructing recreational scuba divers to use and properly handle their diving equipment while performing practical dives with strict compliance with the proper safety rules. Regargless of the situation on employment market dive leaders and scuba instructors remain in high demand at the majority of seaside resorts around the world. A certified scuba instructor will generally have no problem getting job at the location that suites them.

Once you have learned to dive with scuba and have got sufficient diving experience, you become eligible to get your recreational scuba diving instructor certification, which comprises several levels, starting from divemaster and ending with the qualification of either course director or specialty instructor trainer. Getting certified as scuba instructor is possible with either PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) or the NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) whose certification bodies are available worldwide. There are also smaller and less known organizations that have right and facilities to train and certify divers for professional activities and/or employment within the recreational scuba diving industry.

PADI Divemaster or NAUI Skin Diving Instructor ratings are the mimimum you need to become eligible to apply for getting certified as a dive leader. As a future dive leader a person is required to undergo training and successfully pass exam in the disciplines like advanced open water diving, rescue diving, acting in the capacity of diving supervisor and student training assistant with minimum of 60 dives before you become eligible to apply for PADI certification, while the NAUI requirement is set to require the minimum of 8 dive hours spent under the surface of the water.

Both PADI and NAUI highest certification level is Scuba Instructor rating, which will make you eligible to teach scuba diving to the others. The last known price of PADI exam is $US 360 and it is to be passed independently and regardless of the type of your preceding training course or practical experience, while NAUI exam comes ii package with the training course and requires no separate fee.
