Ventura Dive and Sport offers the opportunity to Discover Scuba in Southern California

Ventura, California, is a place for families to plan a day, or several day trips to have fun experiencing water sport activities. Bay Queen Harbor Cruises, located in the Ventura Harbor, offers opportunity to camp aboard a historic Chinese boat, which is 30 feet long and 14 feet wide. The overnight experience includes two kayaks located onboard the ship.

Southlanders can dive into an underwater experience in the Ventura Harbor Village as Ventura Dive and Sport offers opportunity to Discover Scuba. This condensed program gives participants the chance to learn about scuba diving and the basic skills it requires. Students watch a short video, fill out some paperwork and spend an hour learning basic scuba diving skills in a heated pool. The cost is $50 and participants must fill out a medical questionnaire ahead of time. For those who want to dive in deeper, Ventura Dive and Sport also offers Scuba Diving Certification. Students will spend about three hours on a Friday night and half of the day on Saturday learning textbook material, and will then spend Saturday afternoon learning diving skills in the heated pool. Once students have passed that portion of the class, they will spend two additional days diving from a boat. More information can be obtained by calling (805) 650-6500.

Bay Queen Harbor Cruises also offers various water activities in the Ventura Harbor, including hourly narrated cruises, kayak, paddle and electric boat rentals. Families can rent an electric boat, paddle boats, single and double kayaks. Chartered boats that hold up to 30 people are available. For cost to charter the boat or boat rentals and cruises prices customers may wish to call (805) 642-7753.

For those who want to sail through summer, Pacific Sail offers chance to earn Pacific Sailing Certification through a 21-hour sailing course in the Ventura Harbor. All lessons are private and offered seven days a week for convenience. Students take seven three-hour lessons intended to earn them the ability to skipper a 30-foot vessel with auxiliary power. Students must pass a written and on-the-water test in order to earn certification. Deatiled information is available (805) 658-6508.

Situated on 33 acres of prime waterfront, Ventura Harbor Village is an entertainment and recreational shopping center featuring over 30 specialty shops and restaurants, in addition to offering an array of water activities. Ventura Harbor Village is located at 1583 Spinnaker Drive in Ventura. More information is available at (805) 642-8538. Whether it's cruising to the islands, kayaking in the harbor or scuba diving in the water, Southlanders can set sail on the summer of a lifetime.
