In recent years the Seychelles government has taken measures to boost and encourage the inflow of foreign investment needed to refurbish and upgrade number of hotels and promote lots of other services to meet ever changing world standards. The investment is needed for the industries such as geochemistry, exploration of petroleum and petroleum production industries. In 1995 the government of the Seychelles Islands created the Seychelles International Business Authority, putting it in charge of development of sufficient range of incentives and tax concessions to attract foreign investors. The results didn't fail to appear soon. The said investment encouraging measures resulted in exceeding the threshold of 1,000 international companies registered in the country. That was a success! The investment climate in the Seychelles is very friendly. Another scuba diving resort owner in a private conversation once remarked in a casual manner that with as little as 40 - 50 thousand $US to invest into Seychelles economy you may expected the Seychelles government to have the paperwork done and all the formalities settled down for you as the foreign investor absolutely free of charge.
Seychelles are extremely low tax jurisdiction, and in fact the only tax you pay there is the social insurance provided you live in the jurisdiction more than 180 days per calendar year. In fact there's even no such thing as residency, no visa is needed to arrive and settle down there. You just come and live. As an employer you become automatically eligible to employ 25% of employees from outside the country. Minimum you need one investor and one employee to set up your offshore company. To encourage investors and in an attempt to give a powerful boost to the influx of foreign investments in 1994 the Islands' Government introduced the provisions on the so-called Investment Promotion Act enabling businesses to operate under a guaranteed taxation limits incorporating special incentives and privileges. The Seychelles is a signatory to the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, which means protection of all investors against expropriation.
